FRASER RIVER Rafting in the Canadian Rockies

The headwaters of the Fraser River begin at the continental divide on the border of Jasper National Park and Mt. Robson Provincial Park. From here the river begins its long 1400 km journey to Vancouver and the Pacific Ocean. Recognized as a BC Heritage River the Fraser has a rich history that includes the fur trade, the gold rush and the race to establish the Trans Canada rail line. The Rearguard falls run offers spectacular scenery, wildlife viewing opportunities and great whitewater.

The trip begins with a gentle float under the shadow of Mt. Robson in the heart of the Canadian Rockies. Gradually, the river narrows and constricts and the rapids build in intensity. Rafters will brave the big hits of Gold Pan Alley, Vuarnet Ledges and Rearguard canyon just above Reargaurd Provincial park. The trip has an over all rating of Class 3+ and is suitable for all ages and abilities. The trip is approximately 3 hours return.
